Pocket watch with seconds and repeater
–
An interesting thin lépine pocket watch with seconds and repeater, made by Courvoisier & Cie in la Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, circa 1836. The lépine type numbered à goutte (water drop) shaped case of this watch was crafted from 18 carat gold and features an engine turned back and a numbered cuvette inscribed with movement details.
The original dial features an outer track with minute division, Roman hour numerals, a subsidiary seconds dial at the unusual position of 3 o’clock and fine steel hands. The fine quality movement is fitted with a cylinder escapement.
The dial and cuvette are double signed and the sales box is also signed.
