Fob
A fob is the short chain or ribbon that attaches a pocket watch to a pocket, making it easier to retrieve the watch without having to put a hand into the pocket. It also refers to the decorative ornament which serves a practical function, such as a watch key for winding the watch or a seal for correspondence, or a pendant that hangs from the end of the chain.
Historically, fobs were both utilitarian and fashionable, with ornaments often used to signify social status.
