Gold watch with skeletonized Jacquemart automaton
–
An open faced pocket watch with repeater and skeletonized Jacquemart automaton made in Switzerland, circa 1820. The numbered open faced case of this watch was crafted from 18 carat gold, is hallmarked JFN, probably for Jean Frédéric Nardin and has a reeded band. The dial has a white enamel chapter ring with Arabic hour numerals, an outer minute track, is skeletonized in the center, providing a view to the striking mechanism with a figure automaton and has steel Breguet hands. The movement has a cylinder escapement and repeats the hours and quarter hours.
