An historically interesting, very fine minute repeater pocket watch, made by Perret & Berthoud in Le Locle, Switzerland, circa 1900. The case of this watch was crafted from 18 carat gold, the cuvette is engraved with the medals won at the Milan fair of 1906. The dial features an outer minute and hour track with Arabic hour numerals, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock and Breguet blued steel hands. The numbered movement is equipped with a fine lever escapement and a minute repeater.

Perret & Berthoud
Perret & Berthoud was the company of Ulysse Georges Perret and Louis Edouard Berthoud. In 1894, Perret founded a workshop and watch trade in Le Locle together with Numa-Emile Descombes, a partnership that lasted only until Descombes’ sudden death at the age of 34 in 1897. Perret then hired Louis Edouard Berthoud as a specialist for complicated watches. They signed their watches with Perret & Berthoud for only a short time – they switched back to Universal Watch when they returned to Geneva.
