Gold musical watch attributed to Piguet et Meylan

An excellent Swiss 18 carat gold, quarter repeating musical pocket watch with music playing on the hour or at will, circa 1820. Attributed to Piguet et Meylan, Geneva. An Empire case with master mark AP, engine-turned with polished rims, bolt at 10 to activate the music. Hinged gilt brass cuvette with apertures for winding and hand-setting. Gold, engine-turned dial with radial Roman numerals, outer minute divisions, engine turned centre and blued steel Breguet hands.

Gilt brass movement, two-train, with a standing barrel for the going train, cylinder escapement, plain three-arm balance, flat balance spring, polished steel endplate, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by depressing the pendant. Sur plateau musical movement, 28 tuned, blued steel vibrating blades acting on both sides of the pinned disc, music/silence lever at the edge of the cuvette beneath the back cover. Dial plate punched numbered 1898, case numbered 1898.
