Gold astronomical watch by Patek Philippe & Co.
–
An important and highly complicated astronomical Swiss minute repeating watch in practically new condition with perpetual calendar, moon phase and split seconds chronograph, circa 1911.
Sold on December 5th, 1919, with original box and Patek Philippe extract from the archives.
This intricate pocket watch by Patek Philippe is not only a sophisticated collector’s piece but also a fantastic asset. To the best of our knowledge, over the decades only about 70 examples of this type have come on the market.
This open-faced Lepine watch is unusually large, it has a remarkable weight of 162 g and feels suitably heavy to hold. The exquisite enamel dial with numerous dials is elegantly structured.
An 18 carat gold monogrammed case, the dial is enamel with red minutes, inlaid scale for day-, date-, month and year-indication and blue hands. it has a bridge movement, 2 hammers / 2 gongs and a gold screw compensation balance.
