Golay Fils & Stahl were founded by watchmaker Auguste Golay-Leresche in Geneva and sold to Monsieur Stahl around the turn of the century. The shop was soon awarded the title of jewellers to the court of King Carol I of Romania; the king himself paid regular visits to the premises in Geneva. Other faithful customers of the royal jeweller were Prince Damrong of Siam and the Maharaja of Baroda.
