Gold open faced lever watch

A high quality Swiss 18 carat yellow gold open faced chronograph pocket watch made by J.M. Badollet & Cie in Geneva, circa 1900. It has a hand wound mechanical lever movement with a chronograph function, signed by the maker on the plates. The white enamel dial shows Arabic numerals for the hours, a subsidiary seconds counter at 6 o’clock, and a central chronograph seconds hand. The outer perimeter features a detailed chemin de fer railway track with fifth of a second increments. It is fitted with gilt Louis XV style hands. The 18 carat yellow gold case has a finely fluted caseband and a back decorated with a guilloché pattern and figured engraving. The gold dust cover (cuvette) is numbered and bears the retail engraving T. Varrailhone in Bordeaux.
