Gold hunting cased keyless lever watch
–
A fine Swiss 18 carat yellow gold full hunter pocket watch made by Juvenia in La Chaux-de-Fonds, circa 1900. It has a high quality mechanical crown winding movement with a lever escapement, signed Juvenia. The enamel dial features bold black Roman numerals for the hours, an outer minute track, a large subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, and sleek blued steel Breguet style hands, signed Juvenia. The timepiece is housed in an 18 carat solid yellow gold full hunter case. The front and reverse outer covers are masterfully embellished with detailed, allover hand engraved basketweave (guilloché) patterns and ornate floral and scrolled foliate relief borders. Notably, the inner 18 carat gold dust cover (cuvette) features an intricately engraved Juvenia factory coat of arms depicting a central shield flanked by two Lions. The case is completed by a fluted winding crown and a sturdy round suspension bow.

Juvenia was founded in 1860 by Jacques Didisheim in Saint-Imier, Switzerland, before relocating to the historic horological capital of La Chaux-de-Fonds. Known for its exceptional avant garde spirit and high aesthetic standards, the manufacturer earned international acclaim for producing meticulously crafted components internally—a rarity for the period. At the turn of the 20th century, the firm was celebrated for creating ultraprecise lever movements and heavily decorated presentation timepieces. Today, surviving examples from this era are highly valued for their exquisite combination of technical excellence and luxurious case engraving.
