Gold hunting cased lever watch
–
A Swiss 18 carat yellow gold full hunter pocket watch, made by Barth & Fils, circa 1900. This watch has a mechanical crown set movement, manual wind with a lever escapement, a cut compensated bimetallic balance, a blued steel Breguet balance spring, and 27 jewels, signed and numbered. The two tone white enamel dial shows painted black Roman numerals for the hours, a minute track, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, a polychrome floral motif in the centre, and ornate gold Louis XV style hands. The watch features a massive, round, solid gold hunting case with a fluted crown, a decorative oval bow, a matching solid gold inner back cuvette, and front and back covers intricately chased with a winged love shooting an arrow against a foliate background.
