A very fine and rare Swiss, 18K gold, painted on enamel, rose-cut diamond and pearl-set keyless lady’s pendant watch, circa 1872. The Music of Love by Patek Philippe & Co., Genève, retailed by Theodore B. Starr, New York. A Louis XV engraved case, the front cover decorated with a painted on enamel scene of two cupids in the clouds taking musical inspiration, rose-diamond and split pearl-set border outlined in black enamel, the back cover decorated with a painted on enamel musical trophy, the border decorated to match the front. Hinged gold cuvette.

White enamel dial with Dauphine numerals, outer minute track, orange painted Arabic five minute numerals, subsidiary seconds. Gold Louis XV hands. A frosted gilt movement, bar calibre, 15 jewels, wolf’s tooth winding, straight-line moustache lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel flat balance spring, index regulator. Case signed.
