–
A fine Swiss 18 carat yellow gold open faced pocket watch made by Brandt in Geneva, circa 1900. It has a mechanical key winding movement with a verge escapement. The white enamel dial features black painted Roman numerals for the hours, an outer minute track and rose gold moon hands. The timepiece is housed in a refined open faced case with a band adorned with Empire decor and floral friezes. It has a gold cuvette and a sturdy round suspension bow. The back cover features an intricately engraved central scene depicting a castle and trees near a lake, set within a decorative Gothic arch and column frame surrounded by floral scrollwork.

The signature Brandt à Genève represents a highly respected lineage of watchmakers and independent ateliers active in the Geneva and Neuchâtel regions during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Operating during the height of the Swiss horological export boom, Brandt was renowned for combining mechanical quality with Geneva artistic standards. Timepieces from this era are celebrated for their elegant, classic styling, often featuring slim gold cases, decorative case bands with Empire motifs and engraved landscapes. Using refined verge and early cylinder movements, Brandt collaborated with top local goldsmiths and engravers to produce luxury watches that typified the prestige of the Geneva watchmaking tradition.
