An English brass two day marine chronometer with power reserve indication, circa 1950. Brass bowl with screwed down glazed bezel, gimbaled in a two tier mahogany box and glazed top. Silvered dial with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, subsidiary seconds, power reserve indication below 12 and blued steel spade hands. Brass movement with spotted decoration, ring turned pillars with blued steel screws, fusee and chain with Harrison’s maintaining power, Earnshaw’s spring detent escapement, Guillaume’s integral cut bimetallic compensation balance with cylindrical weights and meantime adjustment nuts, free sprung special alloy helical balance spring with terminal curves, diamond endstone. Dial signed.
