Rare chronometer with power reserve indicator
–
A rare small and numbered two day chronometer with extract from the archives and probably one of only three pieces ever made by Vacheron & Constantin in Genève, Switzerland, circa 1915. The open faced and numbered case is crafted from brass and comes in a three part mahogany box with glazing. The original silvered dial has a 52 hour power reserve indicator at twelve o’clock, Roman hour numerals, a subsidiary seconds dial at six o’clock and blued steel hands. The numbered movement has a detent chronometer escapement caliber RA30 and a helical hairspring.
Dial and movement are signed.

A copy of the extract from the archives is included. The extract from the archives confirms both numbers 229564 and 370698 and originality. The chronometer was sold in 1915. One other of these extremely small chronometers, number 388127 was sold at an auction in Genève  for CHF 87.400. According to research in 1992, Vacheron & Constantin confirmed that only three of these extremely small chronometers were made. At the time it was assumed that the other two chronometers were lost.
