A fine German, two day marine box chronometer with 56 hour power reserve, circa 1940. Accompanied by its original rating certificate. Beechwood with glazed top, gimballed resin bowl with screw down glazed bezel, resin gimbal ring locked by swivelling arm mounted in the front right corner. Silvered dial, Arabic hour numerals, subsidiary seconds at 6 oçlock, up and down indicator at 12 o’clock. Black spade hands.

A brass full plate movement, turned pillars secured by screws, oeil de perdrix decoration, fusee and chain, Harrison’s maintaining power, Earnshaw spring detent escapement, cut bi metallic compensation balance with four circular mean time weights and two temperature nuts, free sprung helical balance spring with outer terminal curves.
Dial, case and movement signed and numbered.
