A Swiss 18 carat gold and enamel form watch designed as a mandolin, circa 1820.
A fermée type case, the soundboard chased the front, overlaid with translucent red enamel. The vaulted back has alternating sections of champlevé enamel in blue and black, gold flowers and foliage decorations, and a gold suspension chain. Silver dial with Arabic numerals and gold Louis XV hands. A hinged, gilt brass full plate movement with cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement with micrometric potence adjustment, plain three arm brass balance, continental clock, silver regulator plate.
