Gold open faced lever pocket watch
–
A fine Swiss gold Zenith hunting cased watch with a rare chronometer quality made by Zenith, circa 1920. The watch features a 14K gold case with a solid design and monogram. The case is triple stepped, with all three covers made of gold, and bears the unique case number. The dust cover is marked Chronometre Zenith. It boasts a rare chronometer calibre with an anchor escapement and special fine adjustment. The enamel dial is signed and features a blue 24 hour scale, Breguet style radial hours, a subsidiary seconds dial, and rare Art Deco hands. The associated watch chain is gold plated. Although the watch is functional, the spring cover is somewhat stiff, and the back cover has small dents along the edge.

The anchor escapement is sometimes referred to as the verge escapement. The verge escapement was an earlier version of the mechanism and later evolved into the anchor escapement. Both terms are sometimes used interchangeably, but the anchor escapement is an improved version of the verge escapement and is more commonly found in modern mechanical timepieces.
