Gold hunting cased chronograph watch
–
A Swiss 18 carat yellow gold full hunter chronograph pocket watch with tachymeter scale, made by Omega, circa 1900. It has a hand wound mechanical lever movement with a finely steeled, visible chronograph mechanism and an engraved gold dust cover cuvette showcasing the Omega Grand Prix Paris 1900 prize medals. The white enamel dial displays painted black Roman numerals for the hours, a railway minute track, a subsidiary seconds dial at 9 o’clock, a 30 minute counter subdial at 3 o’clock, a central chronograph seconds hand, and an external tachymeter scale, complete with gilt spade shaped hands. The watch has a massive, round, solid gold hunting case on a hinge with a fluted crown, a decorative round bow, a chronograph pusher near 6 o’clock, and a smoothly polished case back engraved with an intertwined monogram of stylised initials in Art Nouveau style.
