Reymond Frères SA, Swiss, raw movement producer
Reymond Frères SA was founded in 1901 by the brothers John Reymond and Charles Reymond in Les Bioux and traded under the name ” Valjoux SA ” from 1929. In 1910, the company, which specialized in chronograph movements, moved into a factory building maintained by the municipality of Les Bioux. In 1914, the military in World War I needed reliable wrist chronographs. As a result, the 13-line chronograph calibre 23 (diameter 29.33 millimetres, height 5.85 millimetres) was developed, which was released in 1916was ready for series production and was soon ticking in the wristwatches of very different manufacturers (e.g. Audemars Piguet, Patek Philippe, Rolex, Vacheron & Constantin ). Production lasted almost sixty years, and by 1974 a good 125,000 ebauches of this type had been made. The generation change took place with the name change in 1929, and the Reymond sons, Marius and Arnold, took over the company.
