A Swiss, 18 carat pink gold keyless Chronometer Gondolo pocket watch, made by Patek Philippe & Cie., in Geneva, circa 1917. Especially made for Gondolo & Labouriau, Relojoeiros, Rio de Janeiro. A solid case, guilloché engine turned caseback, with engraved monogram J S. The cuvette is engraved with the inscription: Chronometro Gondolo/Fabricado expressamente para Gondolo & Labouriau Relojoeiros/Rio de Janeiro.

One horological complication: 1/5 second chronograph, activated by the single round push-piece located on the winding crown, safety bolt locking the chronograph’s functions slide at 1 o’clock. White enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track with five minute Arabic markers, sunk subsidiary seconds at 6 and gold spade hands. A gilded brass movement with going barrel, train of gold wheels, straight line equilibrated lever escapement, compensated balance with gold poising screws and blued steel hairspring with terminal curve, patented index regulator with swanneck spring and micrometric screw. The dial, case and movement are signed.

Movement also based on the Swiss invention patent No. 2 680, delivered on September 27 1890, to Patek, Philippe & Cie, Geneva, for a Remontoir avec mise à l’heure perfectionné (the definitive version of the keyless winding and setting device), and, on the US design patent No. 20 483, delivered on January 13, 1891, to Adrien Philippe, Geneva, for a Watch bridges for Watch Movements.
