Gold and enamel astronomic full hunter with 13 complications

An important and unique Swiss 18K gold and enamel hunting cased grande & petite sonnerie minute repeating quarter hour self-strike Grande Complication astronomical chronograph with lunar calendar made for the Indian market, circa 1900. Gilt frosted tall bridge movement attributed to Louis-Elisée Piguet, tandem wind with matted click works on the top, finely ground and bevelled steel chronograph parts, ratchet wheel, two hammers, two gongs, gold screw compensation balance, blued Breguet balance spring, counterpoised lever, eight-day going trains on two levels. Cuvette signed and inscribed. White enamel dial with Roman hours, auxiliary seconds, subsidiary sunk dials for the days of the week, date and months, cobalt blue enamelled moon phase disc with inlaid gold stars and moon, central progressive 60 minutes recording hand, blued spade hands. The case borders with engraved palmette frieze, lavishly engraved band and pendant, the front is decorated with a finely polychrome enamel scene of a lady and gentleman on horseback jumping a rose-cut diamond-set fence, the back also with a fine polychrome enamel depiction of horsemen accessories amongst oak leaves, chronograph pusher at 12 o’clock, slide for repeating mechanism, case maker’s mark JL. Comes with a mahogany box.
