Gold full hunter repeating chronograph lever watch
–
A Swiss 18 carat yellow gold hunting cased pocket watch with chronograph, minute repeater, perpetual calendar, and moon phases, made by E.V. Jaccard & Cie in Genève, early 20th century, for the Hispanic market. This watch features a hand wound mechanical movement with Côtes de Genève decoration, compensated bimetallic balance, lever escapement, micrometric adjustment, and a two hammer gong chime for the minute repeater. A push button in the middle of the case activates the chronograph. A slide releases the minute repeater striking mechanism.

The white enamel dial displays stylised Arabic numerals for the hours and minutes. It has three auxiliary dials for the days of the week, months, and leap years, a date indication, a small seconds hand with a moon phase aperture, a central chronograph hand, a minute track, an external 1/5th of a second scale, and spade hands for the time. The round 18 carat yellow gold case features a guilloché front and back with a medallion bearing a monogram in English letters on one side. The gold cuvette is signed E.V. Jaccard & Cie, Genève. It is accompanied by the original wooden presentation case signed with technical information in Spanish.

Jaccard E.V. is listed in the Dictionnaire des Horlogers Genevois, p. 234, by Osvaldo Patrizzi, Antiquorum Editions. As a predecessor to Perusset and Didisheim, which made complex watches and chronometers, Jaccard EV focused on producing watches for the Latin American market. This is why the watch’s wooden case bears Spanish inscriptions.
