Gold open faced minute repeater by Patek Philippe
–
A Swiss 18 carat yellow gold open faced minute repeating lever pocket watch, circa 1920. The watch features a 17″” ligne lever movement with 29 jewels. It has a silvered dial adorned with applied Breguet numerals, subsidiary seconds dial, outer minute dots, and Breguet style hands. The 18 carat yellow gold case includes a personally inscribed cuvette, a hinged case back monogrammed JJM, and a PPC stamp on the bow.
–
The cuvette is personally inscribed for its original recipient, Mr. John J. McInerney, a prominent member of the Knights of Columbus, a Catholic organisation dedicated to the moral, religious, and social welfare of the Church’s members. Between 1920 and 1930, the Knights of Columbus grew to nearly half a million members.
–
The inscription reads: Presented to John J. McInerney, Grand Knight of Rochester Council No. 178, Knights of Columbus, by the members of the Council in appreciation of his faithful service, October 13, 1924.

Diameter: 46 mm

The case is in overall good condition, showing surface wear and scuffing consistent with its age and prior use. The bezel features a small round indentation at 7 o’clock. Patina is present throughout. The case back exhibits some scratches from the previous opening and closing. The dial is in fair condition, with signs of prior cleaning evident. Discolouration spots are visible to the naked eye, along with surface wear, particularly along the outermost perimeter. Light dust is present. The hands and applied indexes show patina and wear. The minutes are chiming in phase, and the movement is running.
