A very fine and rare Swiss 18K rose gold quarter repeating musical pocket watch with music playing on the hour and on-demand, circa 1820. Empire, an engine-turned case with polished bezel and border, reeded band, massive textured pattern case back, lever at 1 o’clock to activate or stop the music and a hinged gilt brass cuvette. Gold dial with black Arabic numerals on circular white enamel reserves intersected by engraved stylized leaves, white enamel outer minute track and visible musical movement in the front and blued steel Breguet hands. A gilt brass movement fixed going barrel, cylinder escapement, three-arm plain brass balance with blued steel flat balance spring, sur plateau musical movement with a fixed barrel, 21 vibrating teeth, repeating on gongs activated by depressing the pendant. Case punched with the mark of DLG * 12720, case numbered.
