The company Guinand was one of the most well known Swiss manufacturers of complicated chronographs around 1900. The Guinand brand originated over 150 years ago in the small and picturesque Swiss village of Les Brenets in the canton of Neuchâtel. On 21 April 1865, two brothers, Julien-Alcide and Charles-Léon Guinand, started their business. Operating under the name of Guinand Frères, they began manufacturing and selling watches. With guidance from their cousin and customer, Julien Gallet from Chaux-de-Fonds, Charles-Léon Guinand developed and manufactured his chronograph.
