A fine Swiss, painted and gilt brass shop display timepiece with stop feature, in the original Rolex wooden fitted box, circa 1960. Flared cylindrical form set at an angle, painted in mottled green soft enamel, brass base, applied gilt brass letters for Rolex and Time to the Second, hinged panel at the base to access the movement. Brushed silvered dial with applied gilt faceted indexes and Roman quarter hour numerals, outer minute track with Arabic five minute numerals, subsidiary seconds. Gilt dauphine hands. A rhodium-plated movement, battery powered, 16 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, monometallic balance, self compensating Breguet balance spring, stop lever protruding at 6 o’clock. Dial, case, movement and box signed.
