Gold and diamond set keyless full hunter watch by Girard-Perregaux
–
A Swiss gold and diamond set, hunting cased, keyless, lever minute repeating grande sonnerie clock watch featuring a bald eagle on the cover, circa 1900. Damascened nickel movement, signed Girard Perregaux, featuring a two train lever escapement, jewelled at the centre, a bimetallic compensation balance, and steel hammers operating on two gongs. The white enamel dial, signed Girard-Perregaux, Chaux de Fonds, showcases Arabic numerals, outer five minute divisions, subsidiary seconds dial, and gilt spade hands.

The 18 carat gold case has a polished front adorned with a raised, chased and engraved bald eagle and a diamond set sun behind it; it includes a trip repeat button on the band, a silence/sonnerie slide on the bezel, and a cuvette signed Girard Perregaux, Chaux-de-Fonds, Hors Concours Paris 1900, with case number 323445.  The watch comes in a fitted wooden Girard Perregaux display box, complete with the original numbered guarantee card and a spare crystal in its original numbered paper packaging.

The movement is operational, with the repeating and sonnerie mechanisms functioning, though it is one minute off. The case is in good condition, showing discolouration, scuffs, and light scratches. Evidence of polishing is present, with slight detail loss on the eagle motif on the front case. The dial is in good condition with no visible hairlines. A very small pit is located to the left of the arbour, only noticeable under magnification.

Signed: Girard-Perregaux, Chaux-De-Fonds
