Split fifth second horse timer by CL Guinand

A rare Swiss chronograph, horse timer, with split-seconds and register, so called Guinand’s Jerome Park, circa 1916.
Nickel case, factory glazing is missing. Very nicely preserved enamel dial with split seconds hand, decentralized time display with Roman numerals, outer seconds track, and 30 minute counter. High grade lever movement, seven jewelled, lever escapement, unusual winding patent, and serial number.

The company Guinand belonged to the best known Swiss manufacturers of complicated chronographs around 1900. The Guinand brand originated more than 150 years ago in the small idyllic Swiss village of Les Brenets in the canton of Neuchâtel. The two brothers Julien-Alcide and Charles-Léon Guinand started their business on 21 April 1865. Under the name of Guinand Frères, they started manufacturing and sales of watches. With the advice of their cousin and customer, Julien Gallet from Chaux-de-Fonds, Charles-Léon Guinand developed and manufactured his chronograph.
