A very fine and rare Swiss steel open faced split seconds chronograph with 30 minute counter made by Longines Watch Co, circa 1938. The case is polished. The signed silvered dial has Arabic hour numerals, an outer minute track with fifth of a second divisions and Arabic five minute numerals, a 30 minute counter at 12 o’clock, auxiliary seconds at 6, blued chronograph hands, and leaf hour and minute hands. The rhodium plated 2/3 plate movement has Geneva striping decoration, 21 jewels, the finest matted and bevelled chronograph steel parts, a ratchet wheel, ground double hand tong with polished bevelling, separate ratchet wheel for the split seconds, a Glucydur screw balance and an index spring fine adjusting device.
