Mathey-Tissot,
Edmond Mathey-Tissot founded 1886 in Les Ponts-de-Martel (Canton Neuchâtel) a watch manufacturer. In 1914, Mathey-Tissot was represented at the Kew Observatory competition with six chronometers, all of which were rated “particularly good”. In the same year, Mathey-Tissot won the Grand Prix of the Swiss National Exhibition.
–
During the First World War, the company supplied the United States Army Corps of Engineers with precision chronographs. Mathey-Tissot was a Swiss watch manufacturer of high-quality watches and Mathey-Tissot mostly worked for large, well-known companies.
–
There is an eight-day travel alarm clock by Mathey-Tissot in the Cartier private museum, originally acquired by the Duchess of Windsor (Cartier Inv. No. 21 CT-C40). The company was Elvis Presley’s main supplier of wristwatches, with ELVIS PRESLEY in the bezel.
–
Mathey-Tissot has nothing to do with the Swiss watch manufacturer Tissot. But there is a pocket watch with a perpetual calendar and moon phase from E. Mathey-Tissot & Co. which was signed on the dial with simply Tissot, which was possibly delivered to the company Tissot Sa.
