Unsigned varicoloured gold repeating automaton watch
–
A Swiss varicolour gold quarter repeating automaton watch with jacquemarts, circa 1820. This timepiece features a fully gilded movement with a pierced and engraved balance bridge, and a silver regulation plate. It includes a repeating mechanism with coiled gongs and a gilt metal cuvette. The dial showcases Breguet numerals on the outer silvered chapter ring, centred by an intricately designed neoclassical building in varicoloured gold. The automaton scene depicts Punch, or Pulcinella, fighting with Chronos, which occurs in the upper gallery in sync with the hour chimes. Below, two putti strike the quarter hours with the quarter repeating feature. The watch is encased in a circular, engine turned gold case that allows for repeating through the pendant, and it is equipped with a locking button on the ribbed band.

The dial is clean and in good condition. There is very light rubbing on the engine turned edges of the case. The movement is running smoothly, and the automation appears to repeat correctly at the hours and quarters when the button is pressed. The locking button functions appropriately.
