A rare and fine Swiss quarter repeating hunting cased pocket watch with concealed erotic automaton, circa 1900.
Rhodium-plated 3/4 plate movement, two hammers / two gongs, gold screw compensation balance. White enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, outer minutes track with Arabic five minutes numerals, subsidiary dial for the seconds, and gold Louis XV hands. Engine-turned 18-carat gold case with cartouche. The engraved gold dome conceals an erotic scene: showing a couple making love in a boudoir. The figures are gilded to some extent and come to life against an engine-turned and partly gilded background whenever the repeater is activated.
