Glucydur is an alloy made of copper and beryllium. It is known for its exceptional strength, hardness, and elasticity. Additionally, it is highly resistant to both corrosion and wear. Due to these features, it has numerous applications across various industries, including watchmaking, dentistry, and aerospace.
–
The development of Glucydur dates back to the early 20th century when Swiss watchmaker Paul Ditisheim was looking for a material that could be used to make watch springs. He required the material to be strong, durable, and non-magnetic, and Glucydur met all of these criteria. As a result, it quickly became the standard material for watch springs.
