–
An impressive pocket watch with stackfreed and alarm made by Barthélemy Duhamel in Genève, Switzerland, circa 1685. This pair cased watch, which was crafted from silver, has a pierced inner case depicting various animals and featuring a bell. The silver champlevé dial has Roman hour numerals, an outer minute track, Arabic five minutes, a central alarm disc and an iron hand. The movement has a very early stackfreed verge escapement with vase pillars, the wheels partly still of iron, a decorated barrel, two windings for the movement and an alarm.
The movement is signed.
