A very rare Swiss open faced pocket watch with date, quarter hour/hour self strike, grande sonnerie and rare pivoted detent escapement, circa 1850. Gilt, frosted 3/4 plate movement, keywind, gold chatoned, blued screws, 2 hammers, 2 gongs, 2 barrels, pivoted detent escapement, screw compensation balance, blued balance spring, ruby endstone on chronometer wheel and pivoted escapement. White enamel dial with radial Roman hours, date indication and Breguet hands. Silver case, florally engraved, reeded band.
