Brass deck watch with power reserve

A fine Swiss deck watch, mahogany, two day marine chronometer with power reserve indication and ratchet key, circa 1930. Three-tier, with brass handles, brass bound corners, the glazed middle section with hinged lid. Brass bowl and gimbaled suspension. Silvered dial with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, subsidiary seconds and power reserve indication. Black painted spade hands.

A gilt brass movement, full plate with baluster pillars secured by screws, 14 jewels, fusée with chain and Harrison’s maintaining power, Earnshaw’s spring detent escapement, two-arm bimetallic compensation balance with cylindrical weights and two meantime adjusting nuts, free sprung polished steel helical balance spring with terminal curves, diamond endstone. Dial, case and movement signed.
