An unusual Swiss iron, gold and gun metal pocket watch with Damascene case, circa 1893. 3/4 Plate movement and a screwed compensation balance.
White enamel dial with Arabic numerals, sunken subsidiary dial for the seconds and gold Louis XV hands.
Magnificently floral ornamented case, made from unusual materials, several layers of two-colour gold were forged onto iron, then finely engraved and pierced. The two motifs winged dragon and dragon bird decorating this timepiece take their inspiration from Japanese mythology. Movement and dial signed.
