A Swiss silver open faced centre seconds lever pocket watch made for the Chinese market, circa 1875. Movement ∅ 47 mm, Chinese calibre, 10 jewels, free-standing barrel, counterpoised lateral lever escapement, bimetallic balance, flat balance spring, index regulator. Hinged and sprung glazed cuvette fitted to the movement ring. White enamel dial, small central chapter ring with Roman hours, an outer minute track, outermost Chinese zodiac symbols and Chinese characters, blued steel ovoid hands. Polished case. Case and movement signed Juvet in Chinese characters.
