The perfect execution of the case decoration is probably due to Gustav Gessner from Silberberg, the former engraver of the Eppner company. Gessner has been based in Glashütte since 1875. He was one of the best-known and most sought-after engravers in Glashütte, a member of the supervisory board of the watchmaking school, and a municipal and city councillor. Old sources tell of how relieved the students at the watchmaking school brought their pieces to Gessner to proudly have their names stamped on them. Whether the ornaments were made according to the design of the head of the Royal Textile School in Dresden, Privy Councilor Professor Carl Ludwig Theodor Graff, cannot be verified.
