A rare German deck chronometer with 56 hour power reserve in a glazed two part mahogany box with blackened brass housing national emblem marine No. M 1390, circa 1940. Manufactured by the Hanseatic workshop Friedrichs & Co. Hamburg-Schnelsen for the German Navy. Brass four pillar movement, a spring detent escapement and Richard Griesbach integral balance. Silvered dial with Roman hours, an outer minute track, 56 hour power reserve indication at 12 o’clock, subsidiary seconds at 6 and spade & whip hands. Dial and movement signed and numbered, case numbered, dial, case and movement with matching numbers.
