Jewelled nickel movement with a lever escapement and monometallic balance, the pinwheel musical mechanism is activated by the alarm function or a button on the cuvette. The cuvette with a central multicoloured gold erotic automaton, the figures against a blued steel ground.

The front is blue enamelled and decorated with an applied multicoloured gold automaton depicting a pastoral scene, a falconer watering his horse at a trough with a lady operating the pump flowing simulated water, foliage with two dogs and a basket in the foreground, further small white enamel time indication in the upper half with radial Roman hour numerals, outer minute dots, heavy moon hands, a hand for the center seconds and a blued hand for the alarm. A stepped case with polished bezels, pendant and bow, reeded band and engine turning on the back, the inside of the back cover is inscribed Goldplated 10 Microns Base Metal Swiss. Dial signed, cuvette numbered, case signed.

The origins of Reuge date back to 1865 when Charles Reuge set up a musical pocket watch shop in the Swiss Mountain town of Sainte-Croix. By 1886, his son, Albert Reuge, opened a music box workshop, the company experienced success and their mechanisms were found in a range of products such as powder compacts and cigarette lighters. By 1930, Guido Reuge had built the Reuge factory and he guided the company for over 60 years. Today, Reuge retains its historical elements still producing singing birds but moving with the times, their music boxes today come in traditional but also modern and innovative designs.
