White gold skeletonized astronomical watch

A rare and elegant Swiss 18 carat white gold skeletonized keyless perpetual calendar pocket watch with moon phases and moon age made by Audemars Piguet in Le Brassus and Geneva, circa 1990. A skeletonized, hand engraved movement, caliber 5020, with 21 jewels, a straight line lever escapement, monometallic balance, self compensating flat balance spring and shock absorbers.

 

The glazed front with an annular brushed white gold chapter ring featuring black Roman hour numerals, a concentric inner dark blue minute track, subsidiary dials for the months with leap year indication at 12 o’clock, the days of the week at 9, the date at 3, the moon phases and moon age at 6, and blued steel kite/diamond hands. A brushed case, the back is also glazed and bears a small etching from the watchmaker next to the case number, the further gold mark is clearly visible at 12 o’clock, the front bezel is stepped and the winding crown set with a cabochon sapphire. Dial signed, movement signed and numbered, the case signed and numbered 004.
