Parkinson & Frodsham was founded in 1801 by William James Frodsham, son of William Frodsham the Younger and William Parkinson. The company was established at 4 Change Alley, Cornhill in London. They specialized in making pocket and marine chronometers. Their business location was ideal for this because the coffee houses in the neighbourhood were often visited by captains, merchants and sales representatives of foreign trading houses who came to conduct their transactions. Very soon, Parkinson & Frodsham not only supplied the British Admiralty with their watches but also exported them to the whole of Northern Europe. Even several expeditions were equipped with their timepieces.
