An English 18 carat gold open faced key wind pocket watch made by Joseph Penlington in Birkenhead, Chester Hallmarked for 1892. The gilt full plate movement with an English lever escapement, engraved balance cock, and cut and compensated slow beat bimetallic balance. White enamel dial with Roman hour numerals, an outer minute track, subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock and blued steel spade hands. The polished case, stamped J.D., with a ribbed band and vacant cartouche on the back. Dial and movement signed, case and movement with matching numbers. Comes with the original winding key.
