An English silver pair cased one handed key wind pocket watch with retrograde hour indication, and day and night display made by Thwing in London, circa 1680. The gilt full plate movement with a verge escapement, fusee and chain with worm and wheel barrel setup between the plates, pierced and floral engraved balance cock with steel three arm balance and silver regulation. Finely engraved silver champlevé dial with Roman hours, an outer minute track, outermost Arabic five minute numerals, a sector with rotating day and night indication featuring the moon and sun pointing to the Roman hours above and a single blued steel minute hand. A polished inner case, the outer case overlaid with underpainted studded horn imitating tortoiseshell, engraved and inlaid with a tree and house, the rim pierced. Dial and movement signed, case stamped FF.
