Model: Gilbert Albert’s ‘Montres Golf’, reference 783.

Gilbert Albert famously served as the Design Director of Patek Philippe from 1955 to 1962 and, inspired by his favourite artists Brancusi and Mondrian, defied the conventional way of designing watch cases. Many of Albert’s innovative designs for Patek Philippe, such as reference 3412 and 3413, remained prototypes and were never manufactured in series because of the uncertain commercial success of his daring design.
–
The present timepiece, from the ‘Montres Golf’ collection, is one of his lesser known designs but is still very much in keeping with the simple, sophisticated and artistic creations he is known for. The collection comprised the references 782, 783 and 799, and was aimed at the ever growing golf community, with the clip allowing the wearer to keep the watch secure whilst traversing the course.
