Gold rare pocket watch

A very fine and rare English 20 carat gold pair cased pocket watch made by Nicholas Prevost in London, London Hallmarked for 1728-1729. The movement, ∅ 37, with gilded plates, square baluster pillars, fusee and chain, a verge escapement, three arm balance featuring a flat balance spring with three turns, pierced and engraved balance clock with streamers, and worm and wheel setup. Gold dial with champlevé Roman hours on a matted ground, an inner quarter hour ring, an outer minute track and Arabic five minute numerals, the center with chased and engraved decoration, and blued steel beetle & poker hands. A repoussé outer case, the back decorated with a scene of Venus & Cupid in a landscape within a strapwork border, and outer flower and scroll border, the bezel decorated to match, a further polished inner case with maker’s mark IR and London hallmarks for 1728-1729. Dial signed, movement signed and numbered.
