A fine and very elegant, thin Swiss 18 carat gold open faced manual wind pocket watch made for Cartier in Paris, France, circa 1920. The rhodium plated movement by the European Watch & Clock Co. Inc. with Geneva striping decoration, 19 jewels, a straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance with eight adjustments, blued steel Breguet balance spring and cam micrometer regulator. Matte silver dial with Arabic hour numerals, outer minute divisions, a decorative engine turned rim, subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock and original blued steel Breguet hands. The polished case with a coin edged band, blue champlevé enamel monogram on the back and fluted pendant. Dial signed Cartier, case and movement numbered and signed E.W. & C. Co. Inc., the case further punched EJ in a lozenge for Edmond Jaeger.
