Very rare and high-quality pocket chronometer, student of Winnerl, Simon Vissière (1822-1887) Le Havre France, circa 1870.
An original silver case with red gold hinges, high-quality Chronometer movement with spring detent escapement and diamond end stone.
Finely engraved balance cock, blued steel screws, signed Vissière au Havre, original signed enamel dial with unusual position of the second on the “12”, subsidiary dial, roman numerals, blued steel hands.

Pocket chronometer is extremely rare made by Simon Vissière, who is more well known for his deck watchs. Simon Vissière (1822-1887) was born in Paris and became a major French chronometer watch maker. He apprenticed for Winnerl and won various prise at exhibitions between 1849 and 1852. In 1867 he patented a Chronometer balance and in the same year he opened his workshop and his own observatory in Havre.
