Gold and silver open faced keyless cylinder watch
–
A fine French 18 carat yellow gold and silver open faced ladies’ pocket watch from the second half of the 19th century. This watch has a mechanical manual wind pendant movement with a cylinder escapement. The white enamel dial features painted black Roman numerals for the hours, an outer minute track, and gold hands. The timepiece is housed in a beautifully decorated three body open faced case with a yellow gold reeded caseband, a fluted winding crown, and a suspension bow set with diamond cut crowned roses. The bezel and solid back cover are identically decorated with an openwork scrolling foliage frieze fully set with rose cut diamonds, perfectly framing a large oval garnet cabochon centred on the back.
